Theatro Circo and gnration, cultural venues managed by Faz Cultura, have today seen their prominent position in the national cultural landscape confirmed. According to the draft decision announced by the Directorate-General for the Arts (DGArtes), the applications submitted by these two leading venues have been selected for support under the programming strand of the Portuguese Network of Theatres and Cineteatros (RTCP) for the 2026–2029 four-year period.
Out of a total of 42 entities proposed for support nationwide, Braga’s applications were among the select group of just three that achieved a score above 90%. This result reaffirms the excellence and artistic quality of the proposals presented by Faz Cultura, consolidating Theatro Circo and gnration as key pillars of the cultural strategy at both regional and national level.
The renewed support—both venues having already been included in the first edition of this programme—is essential to ensure stable and continuous management, enabling Theatro Circo and gnration to deliver projects across music, dance, theatre and interdisciplinary practices.
In the words of Nuno Gouveia, Executive Director of Faz Cultura: “The evaluation carried out by DGArtes reinforces Faz Cultura’s strategy for Theatro Circo and gnration, validating the path that has been followed in recent years. This support represents significant funding that will help strengthen the quality of the programming developed in the venues managed by the municipal company.”
DGArtes also highlighted an overall improvement in the quality of applications submitted in this third edition, making the performance of Braga’s cultural venues even more significant. As part of the Northern Region, which includes 11 supported venues, Braga further strengthens its central role in public investment in the arts sector, ensuring forward-looking programming and close engagement with audiences through to 2029.
