Braga is the Portuguese Capital of Culture 2025.

Braga 25 is a year-long cultural initiative taking place across different locations in the Municipality of Braga throughout 2025. It will be a full year dedicated to celebrating national artistic creation, in connection with Europe and with Braga’s artists and cultural stakeholders.

The Portuguese Capital of Culture is an initiative resulting from the application process for the European Capital of Culture 2027 (ECoC 2027). The quality of the work carried out by all finalist cities led the Ministry of Culture to create a similar initiative at national level: the Portuguese Capital of Culture. The first three cities to receive this title are therefore the non-winning finalists: Aveiro (2024), Braga (2025) and Ponta Delgada (2026).
