Faz Cultura, EM has new Governing Bodies

Faz Cultura – Empresa Municipal de Cultura de Braga, EM has a new governing body, with a term of office running until 2029.
Faz Cultura – Empresa Municipal de Cultura de Braga, EM has appointed new governing bodies for a term running until 2029, strengthening its governance structure with a team comprising professionals with recognised experience in public management, education, culture and international relations.

The Board of Directors will now be chaired by the Councillor for Culture, Cultural Heritage and Artistic Education, Catarina Miranda. It also includes Hortense Santos, Councillor responsible for Education, Civic Participation and Associations, as a Board Member, and Nuno Gouveia as Executive Board Member.

Nuno Gouveia will serve as Executive Director of the municipal company, bringing extensive experience in managing national and international projects, as well as in cooperation within city networks. Between 2016 and 2025, he served as advisor to the Mayor of Braga, with responsibilities in international affairs, cooperation and city networks such as Eurocities and the Global Parliament of Mayors, having coordinated several national and international projects.

At governmental level, he worked as a political advisor to the Minister for the Presidency and Regional Development in the 19th Constitutional Government, and to the Minister of Internal Administration in the 20th Constitutional Government.

Nuno Gouveia holds degrees in Organisational Sociology and in Social Communication from the University of Minho, as well as a Master’s degree in Communication Sciences, specialising in Marketing and Strategic Communication, from Fernando Pessoa University. He also maintains a regular presence in both media and academic contexts.

The General Assembly Board will comprise three members of the municipal executive, chaired by Marta Sousa Mendes, with Altino Bessa as Vice-Chair and Filipe Aguiar as Secretary.

The role of Statutory Auditor will be carried out by Isabel Mota & Maximino Mota, SROC, ensuring financial oversight and auditing of the municipal company.

With this new composition of its governing bodies, Faz Cultura reaffirms its commitment to professional, transparent management focused on strengthening cultural provision and enhancing Braga’s national and international profile, continuing its mission to promote culture as a strategic pillar of territorial development.
