As a member of the international network, gnration will host the artistic duo sikau/pubalova as part of the European Media Art Platform (EMAP) residency programme for 2026.
Since 2020, Denisa Pubalova and Dr Lea Luka Sikau have been developing an artistic collaboration focused on the intersection between multisensory arts and experimental opera. Their work brings together science and art through vibroacoustics, haptic exploration and the olfactory dimension, reflecting the backgrounds and research areas of both creators.
New media artist and environmental philosophy researcher Denisa Pubalova focuses on post-anthropocentric narratives and interspecies communication, drawing on bioart and creative coding. Dr Lea Luka Sikau, who holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge and is curator at the ZKM Center for Art and Media, combines her practice as a mezzo-soprano with research into post-humanism and the new languages of contemporary opera.
As the starting point for this programme, gnration hosted the EMAP Networking Conference from 7 to 9 May. The annual meeting of the European network brought together professionals and artists, with a particular highlight on the public presentation of the projects selected for the 2026 residencies.
