As part of a six-month review of the Portuguese Capital of Culture, Braga 25 presents participation figures across the various activities programmed from January to 15 June, the final date for data collection by the Braga 25 Mission Team. This process includes data gathered by Faz Cultura – Municipal Cultural Company of Braga and the Culture Division of the Municipality of Braga.
In terms of the number of initiatives, Braga 25 recorded a total of 1,069 artistic activities within the programme, including 312 performances, 70 exhibitions, 324 mediation and participation activities, and 47 artistic residencies. Overall, since the beginning of the year, the Portuguese Capital of Culture has recorded a total of 728,656 attendees: 52,948 visitors at music events, 614,795 at exhibitions, 9,254 theatre audiences, and 6,892 spectators attending multidisciplinary performances.
Regarding the structure of Braga 25’s programme, 54% of the artists presented during this period are local, while 30% are national artists and 16% are international guests. It is also important to highlight the number of partnerships developed over the past six months, reflecting a strong network-based programming approach: 153 artistic organisations are local, alongside 56 national and 19 international partners. Particular emphasis is placed on partnerships with Galicia, notably within the projects Forma da Vizinhança, Square, Extremo, the Castro-Galaico Festival and Convergências.
In economic terms, a positive trend can be observed in overnight stays in the city of Braga, particularly in March and April 2025, which recorded increases of 18% and 13% respectively, representing a further rise of 7.8% compared to 2024.
As part of an ongoing effort to make culture accessible to all, a total of 575 activities included accessibility measures, representing more than half of the programme delivered in the first six months of the year. Of these, 47 sessions were adapted, and 20 performances were specifically designed for people with additional needs.
