Inaugurated on 21 April 1915, Theatro Circo is a century-old institution that has played a key role in the cultural and artistic life of the city of Braga and the Northern Region, establishing itself as one of the most prestigious performance venues in Portugal. Open to the city, Theatro Circo maintains a close engagement with the local, national and international artistic landscape, with the aim of promoting a multidisciplinary programme focused on music, performing arts, and mediation and participation.
Its reopening in 2006 restored to the city a main auditorium of exceptional beauty and a smaller auditorium which, together with the Salão Nobre, constitute the venue’s main spaces for performances, conferences, cinema and exhibitions.
Theatro Circo is part of the Iberian Network of the European Route of Historic Theatres, the Portuguese Network of Theatres and Cineteatros (RTCP), and the Network of Theatres with Accessible Programming.
